A cafe on the Mogollon Rim where the Snow Capped French toast outsells everything, the bread it's made on is baked in house, and the owner is known around town as Mama Bear.

The dough is rolled, and it waits

Cinnamon roll dough — the same dough as the cinnamon rolls — rolled into loaf pans and left to proof. Nothing arrives in a bag; it rises right here.

Michelle runs it. People noticed.

Read enough of the reviews and the food stops being the thing people lead with. They lead with her.

The owner “MAMA Bear Michelle” and her staff are over the top when it comes to being pleasant. Three Bears Cafe is a favorite for MANY. It's WONDERFUL food! Save room for desert or take out for later.

Fourteen tables, that's it

Call ahead, get on the list.

Six tables outside, eight in — and in summer and on weekends the wait can run to an hour. We can't take reservations, but we do call-ahead seating: ring before you drive out and we'll put your name on the list, so the wait happens on your way here instead of at the door.

Takeout works the same way — call it in and it's ready when you are.

From Michelle

What Three Bears means.

When Michelle's kids were small, every summer meant grandpa's place on the Kern River in California — and the same little cafe in town, every single year. No air conditioning, the front door propped open for the breeze, everyone sunburned and still in their swimsuits, making memories with grandma and grandpa.

Her kids are in their thirties now, and grandpa has passed. The cafe is her way of handing that on — being the little place other families fold into their own summers, year after year, while new memories get made.

Come hungry. Come early.

The kitchen stops at half two and the shortcake goes before that.
